EHO Story 📩
Food inspections come with their fair share of surprises. Sometimes it’s mouldy food, sometimes a broken fridge, sometimes evidence of pests.
But then there are moments you simply don’t expect.
One of my colleagues once went to inspect a takeaway. When she arrived, no one was at the counter. She waited, called out, then cautiously walked through to the back.
And that’s when she found a staff member. Alone. Very… occupied.
Not with food. Not with cleaning. Let’s just say it wasn’t work-related. 😳
She completed the inspection and then returned to the office looking pale, and for good reason.
Food Safety Tip ✅
While there isn’t a regulation for that specific situation (thankfully), it raises some important questions:
What do your people do when you’re there?
And even more importantly, what do they do when you’re not there?
If you manage a team, clear training and expectations are essential.
Because after all, inspections can happen at any time
The Serious Lesson
This may be one of the more extreme examples, but it shows how quickly a reputation can be ruined.
Customers, inspectors, or even a delivery driver could walk in at any moment. The question is, what would they see?
Make sure your team knows what is expected of them!
