I’m a sole trader, do I still need to undertake food hygiene training?

Regardless of the size of your business, anyone who handles or prepares food should  be trained.

Our courses

Which devices do your courses work on?

You can complete our training courses on any device providing you are connected to the internet.

Can I access course material after I have completed a course?

Yes. Even after you have completed a course you can review the training materials by logging in to your account with your username and password.

Is there a time limit to complete the course?

No! There is no time limit by which you must complete a course. You are free to learn at your own pace. You can complete a course in one go or over multiple sessions.

Can I try the course before I buy it?

Yes! You can register for a free preview. This will enable you to complete one unit of the course for free. You can register for a free preview by clicking the ‘free preview’ button on the course page.

I don’t live in the U.K., can I still take the course?

Yes. Our courses can be taken from anywhere in the world, as long as your device has internet connection. If you are taking the course from outside the U.K. make sure you check that it covers the legislation in your country.

Purchasing our courses

How do I purchase the course?

To purchase the course, simply click ‘Enrol now’ on the product page and this will add the course to the basket where you will be able to check out. Once you have purchased the course you will receive course log in details by email. You can then log in and get started right away. If you have purchased the course for someone else or for multiple learners, you will receive their log in details by email so that you can distribute them.

I want to purchase a number of courses, how do I do this?

If you are purchasing training for your employees, then you will need to select the quantity you require and add to your basket. Once you have made the purchase, you will receive an email containing a list of log in details that you can distribute to your employees.

Do you offer a discount if I order multiple courses?

Yes. Bulk discounts are automatically applied to orders. The discounts on bulk purchases are as follows:

  • 10% discount when 10 or more courses are purchased
  • 20% discount when 50 or more courses are purchased
  • 30% discount when 100 or more courses are purchased
  • 40% discount when 400 or more courses are purchased

Can I pay by invoice?

Yes! just select pay by invoice at the check out and an invoice will be issued for your payment.

please note that access to the course will not be activated until payment has been recieved

Can I pay by PayPal?

Yes! When you checkout make sure you choose the PayPal option. If you chose to pay by PayPal we will use your PayPal email address to create the username for your training account.

I’m buying a course for someone else, what details should I enter?

When purchasing the course, please enter the details of the card holder. When the learner logs in for the first time they will be prompted to provide their own details.

How do I purchase training if I am exempt from VAT?

Logging into your account

I have purchased a training course, what do I do next?

When you purchase the course, you will be sent full instructions via email to enable you to get started immediately. If you have not received an email from us please check your junk and spam folders. If you are still having trouble please reach out to us by emailing info@thesafetyexpert.co.uk 

My employer has given me a company code and password, what do I do with these?

Once you have the company code and password you will need to sign up to complete the training.

I don’t have a company code or password.

If your employer has signed up and purchased courses, then they should issue you with a company code and password that you will need to use when you sign up to complete the training.

If you have purchased an individual course then you will only require a username and password to access the course. These can be entered into the Learning Management System.

Assessment and certificates

I have failed the exam, can I retake?

Yes. You can retake the exam as many times as you need at no extra cost.

How do I obtain my certificate?

Once you have completed the course and passed the exam you will be able to download a certificate, which can be printed or saved to your device. A copy of the certificate will also be emailed to you.

Will I receive my results and certificate immediately?

Yes! The online exam is marked automatically. You will be able to download a copy of your certificate immediately upon successful completion of the exam. A copy of the certificate will also be emailed to you immediately. 

Do you issue printed certificates?

No. We do not send printed certificates. Once you have completed the course and passed the exam you will be able to download a digital certificate, which can be printed or saved to your device. A copy of the digital certificate will also be emailed to you. Self-printed or digital certificates are accepted by EHOs.

Does the certificate have an expiry date?

No. The certificates have a pass date. There is no expiration date, but it is recommended that food handlers refresh their knowledge every 3 years. The recommended renewal date is provided on the certificate.

The name on my digital certificate is incorrect, can this be changed?

Yes! This is no problem we will change this free of charge for you. Simply reach out to us by emailing info@thesafetyexpert.co.uk

I’ve lost my certificate, how can I get another?

Yes! You can log in to your training account and download a PDF replacement at any time.
